Circusproject in Gokwe, Zimbabwe
|
In 2000 Djura Dame went to Zimbabwe with Lisa van der Winden to work in Gokwe (north of Zimbabwe), the most dry and poor part of Zimbabwe. They worked there for two months with two groups of 30 children. There was no electricity, poor water and almost nothing to eat but the children learned a lot and loved the circus. Four hours a day they practiced in the burning sun. The children only speak tonga so they had a translator with them to help them. At the end of each month the children presentated their show for a lot of audience. It was a great success. They have left the circus material there and the groups still continue working with it. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
