Circus project in huancayo, peru

In 2001 Djura Dame, in company of Lisa van der Winden and with the help of foundation Capriool, went to Huancayo, Peru. There they worked with the organisation Gente del Mañana, that works with streetchildren. For two months they gave classes in all the circus disciplines and the children made made their own materials. At the end of all classes the children gave a final presentation. Djura and Lisa have written a small manual to explain all the disciplines so that others could continue their work. In 2003 Djura went back there with Ankie Schouwman and they worked as well with the same group to profound their knowledge as with new children. A total of 120 children. At the end of the month they gave a final presentation. We completed the manual and nowadays the circus classes are still being continued. Apart from the materials they have left, the children know how to construct their own materials. |  |
